A native of Galway, Ireland, James F.X. Fahy's practice emphasizes the European Union and Ireland. He works with corporate and financial institutions in both the European Union and the United States.

James’ practice concentrates on general banking law, international law, corporate law and finance, university law and labor and employment. He also advises on mergers and acquisitions, insurance, restructurings and consolidations and alternative energy.

He has represented a variety of clients, including banks, real estate holding companies, universities, nonprofit organizations and overseas financial institutions. James has also represented individuals and families.

Previous Experience

From 1991-7, served as General Counsel, Secretary, and Compliance Officer for Pullman Group, Inc./Acorn Financial Corporation (sold in 1994); Pullman Bank and Trust Company; Pullman Bank of Commerce & Industry; and Suburban Trust & Savings (sold in 1994). 

Served as General Counsel for Olympic Federal, Berwyn, Ill. 

Served as University Counsel for DePaul University.

            James regularly organizes conferences on European Union and U.S. relations.

            He has participated in panels and has been interviewed on national television and local radio in Ireland, and on local Minnesota and Chicago television stations. He has also made presentations in Ireland and the U.S. relating to international law issues. Specifically, he has spoken in conjunction with Enterprise Ireland and the U.S. Embassy on the legal implications of setting up a business in the United States, and appeared at meetings of the Chicago Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Chicago Rotary.
